Composition for multi-level harp ensemble
Inge Frimout-Hei wrote the musical space journey BLUE PLANET inspired by the flight of her father-in-law, Dirk Frimout, aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis. The astronauts depart and we travel along with them. We hear and see deserts, tropical rainforests, vast oceans, polar landscapes, and much more. We fly through auroras and experience a thunderstorm high above the clouds.
The astronauts float through space and marvel at the beautiful landscapes. In Landscape 8, the sun rises over the Earth in magnificent colors. During Reflections in Space, the astronauts think about home and long to return. The spacecraft prepares to glide back through the atmosphere like a bird. After a successful landing, the crew returns safely to Earth!
The Atlantis is now on display at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
